Addition, Remodel Helps Provide Quality Care, Comfort
Gausman & Moore provided mechanical, fire protection, plumbing and electrical design engineering services for this project that involved an addition and partial remodel to the Ecumen nursing home. The team also assisted the the design/build contractor with developing the final design.Key elements of the project’s mechanical portion consisted of new HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for the remodeled center of the existing building, as well as new dining areas, and kitchens in two separate areas. The existing boilers were replaced with a new high-efficiency hot water boiler system. The new boilers were sized and designed to handle the remodeled portion and new addition.The existing steam piping that served the west wing was replaced with hot water. The existing gas service was rerouted to accommodate the new construction.The electrical portion of the project involved new power and lighting design and modifications, along with extensions of the fire alarm and nurse call systems for the remodeled area, new dining areas, and kitchens.The existing electrical service was replaced with new service equipment that was sized and designed to handle the existing building and additions. A new telephone service was also installed in the facility.
