The Gausman & Moore volleyball team hoisted the first place trophy in the air and celebrated their success at the 10th annual “Battle on the Beach” volleyball tournament. The only problem was the G&M team placed fifth. But still, it was a great picture.
Hosted by ACEC of Minnesota, the Sept. 29 event featured 16 teams representing engineering firms from around the Twin Cities. The G&M team featured Blake Guither, Drew Erickson, Chue Yang and Bryan Haider from the Roseville office. Braving the wintry elements, the guys ditched their shoes and hit the sand court with authority as they bumped, set and spiked their way through seven games.
“Our backs were against the wall, we brought our ‘A’ game, and we gave 110 percent,” said Drew. “We had a great week of practice and we took it one game at a time but came up a little short. We’ll review the game film and come back strong next year.”
The Battle on the Beach volleyball tournament was sponsored this year by the ACEC of Minnesota Emerging Professional Committee. The 4-on-4 event took place at Mama G’s in Maple Grove. Funds raised from the event will be used toward a scholarship fund that is awarded annually to deserving engineering students.
