Education and experience: I attended the University of Minnesota in political science. My real education started in my early 20’s with running a wholesale bakery. After a few grueling years I determined that my interest in energy conservation and renewable energy should determine my career path. I attend an innovative technical college with an energy conservation program. In 1983-85 I was President of the Minnesota Solar Energy Association. With two partners we started a commercial energy auditing business in St. Paul. Later I worked for a non-profit organization provide energy conservation services before coming to G&M in 1988. In 1989 I became a shareholder and moved my family to Duluth to open the first G&M branch office which remains a successful office. In 2006 I was named a Principal. My external role is to develop new client relationships and lead marketing and submittal efforts. I also assist with staff recruiting and retaining.

What’s your favorite part of the job? Mentoring staff and watching them grow. Winning sustainable design projects that allow our staff to grow their skills and engineer high performance buildings.

What do you like to do when you’re not working? I enjoy spending time with my wife, Rosey, and our three grown sons, their wives and girlfriends. I have been active in Rotary for 24 years and enjoy the community service and fellowship. I love music of all kinds, and I play a little golf.

What’s something about you that not many people know? I have bicycled through Germany and Austria. I have two hole in ones.
