Education and experience: I have a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota. I began my career with an HVAC manufacturer McQuay, which is now Daikin, developing advanced heat transfer surfaces to improve efficiencies for a variety of HVAC equipment. After seven years and obtaining my registration, I transitioned to the consulting engineering field with the hope to apply my product knowledge. Gausman & Moore gave me an opportunity in 1990, and I have been lucky to learn under multiple generations here at G&M. My projects have been many and varied in retail, government, institutional and commercial areas. I have had the honor to work with some of the most dedicated project teams working on the goal of solving problems for their clients by enhancing their ability to perform their tasks in a comfortable and inviting arena.

What’s your favorite part of the job? The best part of my job is that it is ever changing. Every project is unique with unique challenges to be overcome by the team. There are new clients and project teams to work and develop relationships with. We have had opportunities to work on project in locations throughout the country, each location bringing their individual nuances into our efforts (I have been told I have an accent!). People develop and transition to new roles, both internally and externally with our clients. The way we work and communicate has changed so greatly over the years, with the pace of change occurring ever faster. I am one of the lucky ones who can state that they love what they do and enjoy coming to work every day because of the projects and people I get to work with.

What do you like to do when you’re not working? Sports and family are a big part of my non-work activities, with my wife and two daughters being huge sports fans as well. Baseball, softball, hockey, and football are the main sports of choice, both professional and University of Minnesota.

What’s something about you that not many people know? In addition to softball and occasionally golf, I have been playing real baseball in wood-bat leagues after my coaching duties with my daughter ended. I play catcher in addition to other positions, and can still catch a double-header! I love the competition and the guys.

Exceptional client service, intelligent engineering.
