Blake Guither to Present at Midwest University March 22, 2017
When: Wednesday, March 22 – 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Where: Mystic Lake Hotel & Casino – Prior Lake, MN
Blake Guither (PE, BEMP, LEED AP BD+C) will give the presentation “Formula Driven Families” at Midwest University 2017. A Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of experience at Gausman & Moore, Blake is responsible with all aspects of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design for commercial buildings.
Blake has done extensive work with energy models and model calibration while also obtaining a Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) certification from ASHRAE. Blake has used Revit for the last six years and is now a developer for a Revit Mechanical Productivity Pack.
There are still many external spreadsheets, books, and design tools that get referenced on every project for design. This not only takes additional time by duplicating information and data but also opens one up for data entry errors when getting the results back into Revit. By having calculations in the families, you ensure your results are directly driven by and connected to the dataset while also reducing the need for data entry.
This class will look at an Auto-size diffuser family that will drive itself off user entered design parameters and airflow and then provide full performance data for review of NC values, pressure drops and throw values.
Following the air upstream we will then review an Auto-size VAV box family with the ability to size itself and provide a dynamic apparent load driven by connected airflow and once again design parameters. And then to the source of supply airflow, we will review what calculations can be embedded in the air handling unit which reduces the need to re-enter data from a manufacturer selection and also provides electrical with instantaneous exact loads.
Key Learning Objectives:
Transfer design table data from manuals to Revit
Create formulas that drive data functionality in Revit
Understand system connectivity in Revit and how powerful it can be
About Midwest University
Midwest University is a regional professional development conference where attendees learn about new and emerging technologies, new features of Autodesk software, tools and techniques that keep building and infrastructure firms competitive. This two day event features breakout sessions taught by the region’s top instructors and Autodesk technical experts. The general sessions and networking opportunities allow you to share ideas and insights with your peers, network with experts in your field, and explore the latest trends and technologies.
This spring’s Midwest-U is geared toward the architecture, engineering, construction and civil infrastructure community offering breakout classes. Hear firsthand where the industry is going from Autodesk, CTC, and other industry experts. Midwest-U will equip you with the knowledge, vision and strategy you need to keep your organization on the leading edge.
